Effective entrance
The approach and entrance that connect the interior and exterior of the house are very important for inviting in the family and the guests. A design tweak is needed to create a dramatic impact from the street to the rooms inside. It is important that the approach from the street to the entrance is in harmony with the surrounding environment. If the length of the approach is long, many design points could be created. If the length is short, however, it is more effective to place plants on both sides of the approach, and consider both sides as one total design. This also plays an important role in anticipating the image of the entrance; the entrance that connects the approach to the rooms needs to be functionally designed because it not only separates the circulation of the guests and the family, but it is also a place to take off shoes, and coats and place them aside. When designing the approach, it is important to incorporate privacy, and clarify the role it plays within the house. The relationship between the approach and the entrance affects the landscape and the rooms inside. It is preferable to have enough space from the road and from neighbors, and to plan an approach that welcomes guests effortlessly. Also, the gate, mailbox, and exterior lighting are important; since the gate is the “face” of the house, many choose to customize their gates. A more comfortable lifestyle can be enjoyed if an entrance and approach that fits a family’s lifestyle is created.
