Per request of the owner, Pasi Johansoon, the design of the interior was made to be rectilinear and modern. It is unified in black and white but the art/ furniture the owner has collected and the red used for the stairs add some accents to the space. Moreover, from the south side facing the frontal road, only the entrance can be seen and a consideration was made so that neighboring residents can enjoy the landscape as well.
In Sweden, because the electricity usage per 1m2 is regulated, a floor heating system with water pumps, circulating the geothermal heat from the mountain plot was established. Moreover, an atrium was set up indoor to take in sunlight to reduce the electricity consumption as much as possible. This residence is in harmony with the surrounding natural environment while having the splendid design and the function.

courdesloges.jpg

The second primary city in France, Lyon is known for a gourmet town. There is a hotel called "Cour des Loges" in Lyon. In the old days, as this hotel was positioned in the center of a large Italian community, four buildings built in the 14th, 16th to 17th centuries, are strongly influenced by the Italian Renaissance. 63 guest rooms are decorated with different styles, however, every room is sophisticatedly coordinated with antique furnishings. Venetian red velvet hung over the windows and Lyon silk curtains are effective. You can surely savor the atmosphere of the Renaissance era and at the same time enjoy a pleasant hotel life since the rooms have modern essentials such as bathtubs and sinks designed by French designer, Philippe Starck. In the process of renovating these buildings to a hotel, French artist- Herve Thibault painted murals colored in ocher yellow and utilized stones and wood of the same generation as buildings to decorate the walls, to recapture the lost Renaissance essence. Moreover, there are 3 concierges who own gold key badges, issued the "The Society of the Golden Keys (Europe Concierge Committee)" who will kindly introduce guests to sight-seeing spots and good restaurants, and arrange for guests to get tickets to see plays and sporting events.

M・M Residence Architect : ESPREX INC. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

Nishinomiya city in Hyogo prefecture is situated in the Kansai region. M・M residence /office stands on a steeply-inclined hill lush with greenery. This huge plot of land is approximately 1,100m2, and on the northwest side is a bamboo grove, and the northeast side is facing the river with three waterfalls. It is a great location with a town view on the southeast side. Architect Koichi Nakai employed split-levels to ensure a large floor space in these limited conditions. The difference of elevation was made to encompass be about half the floor and the rooms are connected by stairs. Almost no partitions were established so the space is divided by split-levels. The residence was created to be one-room space connected in three dimensions.
There are six staircases connecting each split-level and each staircase has different designs. The staircase leading from the living room to the dining room consists of a slope floor with steel boards inserted to accentuate the continuity of the two spaces. The stairs from the dining room to the bedroom are made of steel boards painted in white, and look like steel stair treads are floating in the air. Since this staircase consists of only steel boards, one can see through them, giving a nice view of the outdoors.
In addition, an 800mm slit-like window was established between the first and second floors, going around the building in a continuous fashion. Through this window, the landscape on the southeast side can be enjoyed from anywhere in the residence. As you go up the stairs, the surrounding nature view subtly changes and you can have a refreshed feeling.
